Whether you’re an avid jewelry collector, a self-proclaimed gemologist, or a lover of natural science, our “Gem of the Week” segment is just for you!
This week’s Gem of the Week is: TOPAZ
Topaz is beautiful gemstone that comes in four different varieties: Pure Topaz, Orange Topaz, Imperial Topaz, and Mystic Topaz.
Pure Topaz is a transparent, colorless gemstone. Topaz is typically tinted by impurities in the gemstone, which emits different colors. Topaz can be yellow, wine, reddish-orange, or brown. Other tints of Topaz include pale green, blue, and gold.
Orange Topaz is the birthstone for November. It is also the state gemstone of Utah.
Imperial Topaz is typically yellow or pink-orange. When exposed to sunlight for a period of time, the color of Imperial Topaz can fade.
Mystic Topaz is a colorless type of Topaz that has been coated to give a rainbow appearance.
